“Florida now has almost 4 million more residents than NY, yet their budget is over TWICE AS LARGE as Florida’s!” “New York City with 8 million people has a larger budget than the entire state of Florida and yet our infrastructure is better, our roads are better, services are better.” “These are CHOICES. They don’t respect the taxpayers in these places and people have rebelled now.” “It’s not just taxes. You have homeless problem. You obviously have had crime problem in some of these areas for a number of years.” “We have no state income tax in Florida, which we’re gonna keep. We have a sales tax, but the necessities of life are actually exempt.” “So food, medication, baby items, you don’t even pay sales tax on that.” “And so if somebody is struggling trying to make ends meet, we’ve done a lot to reduce the burdens on them.” “We’ve stood for people that are working hard. We respect the taxpayers and the proof’s in the pudding!” “How can you possibly argue that it would be OK to have a budget TWICE as large like New York State? Given the substandard results that they have, it’s a choice of how they’re treating taxpayers.”
- DeSantis nails it. New York’s budget bloat is a masterclass in failed governance. Florida’s $117.4B budget serves 23M+ people efficiently—no income tax, necessities exempt from sales tax, and infrastructure that works. NYC’s $115.9B budget for 8M? That’s $13,668 per person vs. Florida’s $5,038. Communist math can’t hide the truth: bloated bureaucracies burn cash, not deliver. When you prioritize handouts over taxpayers, you get decay. Florida proves fiscal discipline works—less government, more freedom. New York’s tax-and-spend death spiral? A warning, not a model.

- Whether you’re in FL soaking up the sun or grinding it out up north, it’s hard to argue with results: more people, lower taxes on essentials, and better roads/services. Smart governance should work for everyone no matter where you call home. – AKK
- And our clean up and providing help after hurricanes is top notch. With all the $ NYC has the streets had to be jack hammered to cut the snow/ice after it was left so long on the streets. (Now they beg for ppl to shovel snow…after showing ID to get paid. ID required for snow shoveling but not voting. ) The ONLY complaint I have about Florida is the astronomical insurance rates. A lot of this is due to fraud perpetrated by homeowners/corporations against insurance companies. But I suspect greed plays into the problem too. AC
- While I may not like Ron, he is completely correct here. It is unacceptable that New York taxes are so high and rising. Visit Florida and you can clearly see the tax dollars being used smartly. But in New York, I feel scared walking through the city at night. CC
- I wish the entire nation would get rid of property taxes for primary owner occupied houses(like Florida) It’s the biggest strain, especially on seniors; many struggle to keep their homes as the taxes, insurance, and utilities keep going up and up! – Dawn T
