8 year old boy with autism is suspended from school in Georgia for having this little LEGO gun

School administrators classified it as a “weapon” under the district’s Code of Conduct and he was given a 3-day suspension The boy’s mom and other parents say this is ridiculously strict to suspend a boy with disabilities over a tiny LEGO gun that poses no harm to anyway Official response from the school “The Henry County Board of Education’s Code of Conduct defines various levels of infractions, and school administrators consult these definitions in using their discretion to determine student consequences. In addition to consequences based on the level of violation, multiple violations during a school year could result in more severe consequences.” There are better things our schools could be focusing on than this

  • Walnut Creek Elementary School in GA. The percentage of students achieving proficiency in math is 20%. The percentage of students achieving proficiency in reading/language arts is 25%. Color me shocked. 8/10 kids can’t do math. 7.5/10 kids can’t read.
  • A elementary school in California tried to expel my daughter from kindergarten for calling someone a coconut head. They deemed it hate speech . Homeschool your kids guys, public educators are the enemy
  • There’s no way administrators looked at a tiny LEGO piece and genuinely thought ‘national security threat’ meanwhile actual bullying in schools gets ignored every day.
  • We are teaching kids to reject logic, common sense and accept demented adult delusions as truth. Your Lego water pistol can be seen as dangerous or can trigger people! But the same people are totally ready for discussions about gender identity and human sexuality. Right.
  • My 12 year old nephew was invited to shoot bb guns with his mom’s friends on a weekend. He shared a pic. Other kids sent it to the school administration claiming he was planning a school shooting. Guess who got in trouble? My nephew.
  • Parents need to speak up on this one. I got in trouble a couple of years ago for calling water pistols “water pistols” in a permission slip for our end of year water play party.
  • Looks almost as “dangerous” as the sprayer top from a plant watering bottle. I’d INSIST that a color picture of the 6 legos stuck together – be stapled to the “administration’s opinion”. Bunch of retards.
