The La Palma / Cumbre Vieja eruption is now in its 47th day. Today’s main news is that the intensity of the eruption has now been upgraded from a VEI 2 to a VEI 3. Although I had suspected this to be the case since October 19th, this was merely confirmed today. Also, a third magnitude 5.0 earthquake hit the island. These strong earthquakes (M 4.2+) are occurring deep underneath the island, indicating the movement of new magma into the volcano. This video will discuss what is likely to happen next as this Spanish Canary Island volcano.
