- This was commonplace when I was in high school, riding the subway home. The years were 1969 to 1972. Black kids used to board the subway a couple of stops after my friends and me. They routinely attacked us because we were White. I vividly recall two of them trying to throw one of my friends between the cars and kill him. So this is nothing new.
