They pulled the old shots when the bodies were fewer and the cameras were smaller. The COVID platform is the one that got a multi-year hall pass.
President Trump put Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at HHS because MAGA and the health-freedom vote wanted a wrecking crew, not another seminar. On Sept. 21, 168 of those people sent the White House and the secretary an open letter that reads like a foreclosure notice.
“While the centerpiece of the MAHA and health freedom agenda has been removal of mRNA shots, you have failed to take decisive action on this front despite overwhelming credible evidence to the harm of this technology,” they wrote. Then the line that will travel: if the mRNA platform stays on the market, the movement “will withdraw their support of you, and you will face the political consequences.”
Texas physician Mary Talley Bowden organized it. The signature page is a reunion of the people who spent four years getting smeared as cranks: Rep. Thomas Massie, former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Tucker Carlson, Dr. Robert Malone, Dr. Peter McCullough, Dr. Joel Wallskog of React19, Leslie Manookian, Louisiana Deputy Surgeon General Sean Troxclair, Jimmy Dore, Bret Weinstein, Steven Kirsch. The organizers claim a combined social reach in the tens of millions. Even if you discount the follower math, the names are not a comment section.
Kennedy used to call the COVID shots the deadliest vaccine ever made. He now runs the building that still lets pharmacies sell them. Malone, the man Kennedy put near CDC vaccine advice, wrote the sentence the base has been muttering in group chats: “The man who spent years warning America about mRNA vaccines now presides over a department that has approved another one.” What in the hell is going on with RFK Jr? Is he really being mostly controlled by Deep State actors? Like how Kash Patel and Dan Bongino completely changed once appointed…. We see through them all, and respect has been almost totally lost for Kash and Dan. Not so, at least not yet, for RFK Jr. But it is about to hit that same chord.

The new one is an mRNA flu product cleared without a true placebo trial, which collides with Kennedy’s own promise that new shots would not skate through on the old COVID paperwork. The letter also flags a $1.24 billion HHS award to Pfizer for future mRNA products, including for children. That is a lot of “heightened scientific scrutiny” with a purchase order attached.
HHS answered with the kind of sentence that makes a kitchen-table Republican reach for the remote. Spokeswoman Emily Hilliard said Kennedy “has been clear that he believes mRNA products warrant heightened scientific scrutiny.” The department wound down some respiratory mRNA contracts, it says, and still likes the platform for cancer work. The White House had no comment. Kennedy has told supporters that change inside government takes time and that safety studies are underway. Time is the one commodity the injured families do not have.
The letter’s ledger is the part MAGA will not file under “process.” It says more than 50 million Americans took a COVID mRNA shot this year, including 7 million children, “despite no studies demonstrating prevention of hospitalization or death and voluminous data demonstrating severe harms.” It cites at least 10 child deaths the FDA has acknowledged. It objects to CDC Director Erica Schwartz telling the Senate that mRNA technology is safe and effective — a blanket blessing the signers say you cannot legally stamp on PREP Act countermeasures. It says CDC has not kept cancer statistics current while rates climb, and that manufacturers are not being held to their VAERS reporting contracts. And it says the people already hurt are still waiting for help that never arrives.
Six demands. Ban the platform, kill the PREP shield, repeal the statute, dump the ads, stop paying doctors to coerce, clean the agencies.
Then the line that will live on bumper stickers. The signers say they did not fight to put Trump and Kennedy in those chairs so the grassroots war on the mRNA platform could be “rebranded” as “a concern about coloring agents in Skittles.” Candy dye is an easy applause line. A vial still sitting in a CVS fridge is the reason people knocked doors.
MAGA wanted those vials gone. Not studied. Not “wound down” in a BARDA spreadsheet while the neighborhood pharmacy keeps a cardboard display by the register. Banned. Off the childhood schedule. Off the adult schedule. Off the military. Off the maternity ward. The PREP Act liability force field torn down so Pfizer and Moderna have to live in the same country as everyone else.
That is how Washington used to treat a bad shot when the victims were visible and the press still knew how to count.
Cutter’s polio vaccine was licensed in mid-April 1955. Live virus was in the vials. The product was pulled by April 27 — fifteen days. The 1976 swine-flu campaign started sticking arms on Oct. 1. Guillain-Barré cases stacked up. The government halted the program on Dec. 16, seventy-six days later. RotaShield, the first rotavirus vaccine, came off the market in 1999 after infants developed intussusception, a bowel obstruction. Those were smaller body counts than the COVID era, and the bureaucracy still found the brake pedal.
The COVID mRNA shots got an emergency authorization in December 2020. It is September 2026. They are still for sale. Kennedy is more than a year into the job. The base can recite every food-dye victory. It cannot point to a national ban on the product he spent a decade calling lethal.
“You will pay a political price.” That is 168 names telling the coalition of 2024 it can walk in 2026.
The six demands in the letter are not a think-tank white paper. Ban mRNA and gene-therapy vaccines. Terminate the COVID PREP Act declaration because there is no emergency left to hide behind. Urge Congress to repeal PREP. Ban pharmaceutical ads on television — a courtesy every country except the United States and New Zealand already extends to its population. Strip the HHS payment tricks that turn a checkup into a sales call. End the conflicts at CDC, FDA, NIH, and NIAID. Deliver “in the near term,” they wrote, or watch health-freedom voters sit out, run their own state candidates, and primary the slow ones through 2028.
That last part is the warning Trump cannot ignore even if he thinks Massie and Tucker are doing a bit. The 2024 coalition was MAGA plus MAHA plus every parent who watched a school board lie. Those people will not be soothed by another listening session. They will not be soothed by a Mars Wrigley press release. They will not be soothed by cancer-mRNA talking points while the respiratory shots stay on the shelf.
Give Kennedy this much: he inherited a captured department, a press corps that still treats Pfizer like a public utility, and a legal shield written so the manufacturers never have to look a widow in the eye. Bureaucracy is a wet wool blanket. He canceled hundreds of millions in mRNA respiratory contracts. He has said the platform fails against fast-mutating respiratory viruses. He has moved food chemicals because those fights are winnable on television. None of that answers the mother whose kid is in the 7 million, or the veteran who cannot get a doctor to write “vaccine injury” on a chart without a career death wish.
Trump’s job here is simple, and it is the job he hired Kennedy to do. Tell HHS the product comes off the market. Tell FDA the placebo-free conveyor belt is closed. Tell DOJ and Congress the PREP shield is finished. Fund the injured instead of the next contract. If the career staff leak and stall, fire them in public. The base already did the hard part. It won an election against the entire public-health priesthood.
The letter is rude on purpose. Good. Polite memos are how the last four years of “safe and effective” got laundered into a permanent product line. MAGA is frustrated because people are still dying, children are still being lined up, and the man who named the problem is now the man scheduling the follow-up study. The midterms will not wait for the study. Neither will the families. Too many unborn children have lost their lives. Too many Americans have suffered because of mRNA vaccines. And RFK Jr. still seems like he is in the fight, but losing. Not as badly as Kash and Bongino did, but he is losing, and America loses with him.
