- Awesome Just a week after a Cat4/5 Hurricane cut off Pine Island from the rest of the world, they now have a bridge, starlink from Elon Musk, and now a convoy of Publix trucks rolling in! Couldn’t be prouder to be a Floridian.
- In just 3 days, Gov. DeSantis says Florida built a temporary bridge to Pine Island after its lone bridge to the mainland was destroyed by Hurricane Ian. The move allows emergency vehicles and even Publix trucks to get to the island. STORY – Fox 13 story
- FDOT has completed emergency road and bridge repairs for Pine Island in under 3 days! This was made possible by dedicated crews working around the clock to restore safe access. Work can now begin to make the island safe for its 9000 residents to return to their homes.
Incredible work by @GovRonDeSantis and @MyFDOT in rebuilding the Pine Island Bridge in RECORD TIME. Crews worked overnight to bring in over 130 truck loads of rock. This is going to go a long way in getting Pine Island residents back on their feet. #HurricanIan
