When you add together the total tax burden for each state. That’s income tax, property tax, sales, and excise tax as a share of total income: – New York topped that list with a tax burden of 12.5% – Hawaii ranked second at 12.3% – Maine is 3rd – Vermont is 4th – Connecticut is 5th – New Jersey is 6th Every one of these states is run by Democrat control. (Vermont is the exception with a Republican governor but the state is run by a Democrat majority legislator) Alaska had the lowest tax burden at just 5%. Also near the bottom was Tennessee at number 47, Florida at number 46, both with burdens around 6%

You failed to mention the multitude of new ways Hochul has managed to take even more of our money. New fines, fees, regulations, policies, permit requirements, new and higher tolls, speed/red light cameras etc. It’s the hidden tax on all residents of NY state. – JKG
But, everyone’s forgetting to add up what your tax dollars affords you; – Abundance of homeless – Crime – Illegal aliens – massive government fraud – Defunded police depts While you settle for less, the Democrats make sure to take more!
And yet, after decades of high taxes, it still attracted the richest people in the country. Maybe Republicans can learn something from that. Or move to a 3rd world country where everything is cheap and there’s no income tax. – TW
This is just taxes. This doesn’t include red light and speed cameras on every corner, ticketing you for doing 26 mph. Not to mention tolls, fees, fines, price increases, energy costs, rent, surcharges, and mandatory expenses on everything you buy or do. – Eddie M
