His answers? Pure deflection. On @RepLuna ‘s push to attach the SAVE Act to DHS funding bill: “That’s not happening. The reality is, what’s in front of us right now is that @ICEgov needs to be dramatically and totally reformed. Big changes are needed that are bold and transformative, period, full stop.” When asked directly: “Did you support the SAVE Act – voter ID for elections, do you support that?” @HakeemJeffries never gave a yes or no. Instead he pivoted back to ICE: “We support dramatic changes to the manner in which DHS has been conducting itself. Taxpayer dollars should not be used to kill and brutalize American people and to violently target law-abiding immigrants.” Then our reporter asked about the FBI raid in Fulton County: “Are you concerned any fraud’s going to be uncovered there?” Jeffries’ response: “ @realDonaldTrump continues to want to litigate the fact that he lost the 2020 election. I don’t understand how he thinks this is going to help his position, which is failing before the American people.”
